We have been involved in introducing modeling to children of all ages, sending children to camp, doing flying demos at local schools, churches, and parks. We have also set up simulators and static displays at various locations as an educational experience to our community. We are always open to new ideas to promote our hobby to others in a safe way.
LARKS Mission Statement
To promote model aircraft building and flying as a family oriented hobby, to freely and openly share what we have collectively learned and experienced, and to provide an enjoyable, friendly and safe environment for our fellow hobbyists and guests.
My friend, Dave Kennedy, and I took a trip to Fairbanks to view the Northern Lights.
Having to find some day-time entertainment, we visited museums featuring Dog Sledding, history of Alaska at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, beautiful automobiles, and the Pioneer Air Museum.
Though closed for the season, they let us in for a peek. A lot of aviation history in a relatively small space.
Homebuilt airplanes and even a homebuilt helicopter, a UH-1H, a couple of beautiful Stinsons, and the ubiquitous Cub (the Bakeng Duce) are on display, as well as Carlos's Flying Saucer (a hovercraft built by Carlos Welding in 1987).
Quite a bit of information on WWII aircraft flown from Fairbanks and military airfields, to include a P-38 on Skis!
Now definitely scheduled for 21 April, 2018. Food, fun, night flying on Friday night (20th), and Float Flying on Saturday. Dust off your float plane and join us on Lake Murray

Drone access and safety seems to take center stage.
Since a couple of Stinsons caught my eye in Fairbanks at the Pioneer Air Museum, I naturally searched for a model befitting the history behind their use in the Land of the Midnight Sun.
Though this larger cousin of the 67.7 inch offering from Phoenix is not yet available (look for April timeframe for delivery), it appears to be a great looker.
I love the trim scheme, all wood, laser cut parts and bolt on two piece wing.
Tower Hobbies even gives us a sneak peek at the instruction manual (PDF).
