Can we now fly higher than 400 feet? This question was answered by the AMA last week.

Dave Andersen-LARKS Webmaster.

LARKS Applications

We have been involved in introducing modeling to children of all ages, sending children to camp, doing flying demos at local schools, churches, and parks. We have also set up simulators and static displays at various locations as an educational experience to our community. We are always open to new ideas to promote our hobby to others in a safe way.
Wayne has been a member of LARKS for the last 6 years and and the AMA since 1972.

An advanced RC pilot, he's currently the club's vice president (elected for a second term on November 5th).
LARKS Mission Statement
To promote model aircraft building and flying as a family oriented hobby, to freely and openly share what we have collectively learned and experienced, and to provide an enjoyable, friendly and safe environment for our fellow hobbyists and guests.

AMA Members can visit the National Model Aviation Museum in Muncie, Indiana. It is dedicated to collecting and preserving significant pieces of aeromodeling history.
To get us in the float plane frame of mind, here is the Hanger 9 DH-2 Beaver. This 102 inch wingspan beauty requires a 30-35 gas engine and rumor has it that one might be at the lake on October 8th. As you can see, it's right at home on the water.
Horizon Hobby
Dave finally decided to build this kit. In this three part series, he goes from the build to the first flight.

We had a visitor at the August meeting. Stephen Avila discussed the Lexington Technical Center and its program to get the younger generation interested in flight. They build and design planes out of foam board, power them with smaller electric motors.

They are in need of spare building parts, motors, radios and servos. He's also asking for presentations for the classes. If you can help with any of the above, email Stephen at

Amazing plane! In November 1999 Canada even minted a Quarter celebrating the 'Airplane that Opens the North'.
Laurie Holden, one of the faculty at the Catholic Memorial school district has a student, Jason, who's very interested in the hobby and is a frequent visitor to our web site.
He shares this link to a drone buying guide:
