TODAY IS
For many years LARKS has had a deep community involvement. We have been involved in introducing modeling to children of all ages, sending children to camp, doing flying demos at local schools, churches, and parks. We have also set up simulators and static displays at various locations as an educational experience to our community. We are always open to new ideas to promote our hobby to others in a safe way.
LARKS is now offering flight instruction for new LARKS members every Wednesday evening from about 4pm until dark (weather permitting) at the LARKS West site. This instruction period is geared towards primary flight training for members who are new to the hobby.
You do not need an appointment on Wednesday--- simply show up. Please try to have everything ready to go --- plane assembled, batteries charged, repairs made, etc.
There is no charge for flight instruction provided on Wednesday evenings. All that is required is that you are a Larks Member, an AMA Member, and complete a Release Form to give to your instructor prior to your first flight. Other arrangements may be made by contacting the instructor with whom you choose.
In honor of our plane of the week- This is a 44 minute YouTube video of the Stuka.
Steve Livingston is our club's flight training instructor and can be found at LARKS West field
most Wednesday afternoons.
The vast majority of drone users want to fly safely and responsibly, but may not know these basic guidelines. That’s why the Academy of Model Aeronautics, which has 176,000 members nationwide and 22,000 in California, works closely with the FAA and the unmanned aircraft industry on the Know Before You Fly campaign to ensure that new flyers have the safety information they need as soon as they purchase their drone. Education programs like these will help ensure the safety of our airspace for all.
